Bills' James Cook gives incredible gut-punch to Panthers defense after win

2 hours ago 1

The Buffalo Bills steadied the ship with a 40-9 win over the Carolina Panthers to snap their two-game losing streak before Sean McDermott's team faces the Kansas City Chiefs next week.

In a game they simply had to have, the Bills, led by James Cook and his 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns, torched the Panthers, scoring 37 points combined in the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach.

For Cook, he is known for his brutal and physical running style, and his 216 yards came from 19 carries as he averaged 11.4 yards per carry. When asked post-game if he felt like he got hit, James gave a response that will be the ultimate gut-punch to Carolina's defense.

“I feel like I go again," Cook said with a smile. "So, I don't feel like I got hit."

Oh boy, that is quite the statement and one that will sting the Panthers' defense, who got gashed routinely on the ground in what was a brutal display from Buffalo's offense.

Bills' attention turns to Chiefs

The Bills moved to 5-2 on the season, and now attention turns to perhaps their biggest game of the season, and one they have generally done well in, at least in the regular season.

The Chiefs will roll into Highmark Stadium in what is looming as the next exciting installment of the Josh Allen/Patrick Mahomes rivalry, as Andy Reid's team has found their mojo.

The Bills have as well, to an extent, and while the first half against the Panthers was a little up and down, the third quarter saw Joe Brady's unit pile on 21 unanswered points to pull away and cruise to a much-needed victory.

But there will be no cruising this week, with the Chiefs coming to town, and Cook will know that while he didn't feel like he got hit against Carolina, he'll certainly feel it against Kansas City.
