The Buffalo Bills have decided to part ways with head coach Sean McDermott.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Bills have decided to fire McDermott after nine seasons with the team.
"The Bills fired Sean McDermott, sources tell The Insiders," Pelissero wrote.
As of this moment, it remains unclear what general manager Brandon Beane's fate will be, but this obviously increases the chances he'll get canned, also.
McDermott's nine-year tenure featured an impressive 98-50 record.
The Bills' decision to fire McDermott is understandable.
Buffalo was once again bounced from the playoffs earlier than expected, which has become an all-too-common occurrence during McDermott's tenure with the Bills.
Despite being Super Bowl contenders for several years now and having one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Josh Allen, the Bills have not been able to get to a Super Bowl, let alone win one.
Now, this completely shakes up the head-coach hiring cycle, as the Bills will be a highly-coveted opening for candidates.
We would expect the Bills' search for McDermott's replacement to begin in the next few days with interview requests.
