With Jayson Tatum out to this point in the 2025-26 NBA season, Jaylen Brown has been forced to become the #1 option, and he hasn't shied away from it.
Brown is having such a great season that he's threatening some of the records Tatum set in his best years as a Celtic.
There's one major stat he has a chance to pass Tatum in that would be very impressive.
What stat could Jaylen Brown pass Jayson Tatum in?
Tatum holds the franchise record for PPG in a season by a player, with 30.1 in the 2022-23 season.
He passed Larry Bird's previous team-leading mark of 29.9, which he set back in the 1987-88 season.

Tatum's average was also higher than Isaiah Thomas' 2016-17 mark of 28.9, which was one of the greatest scoring seasons in Celtics history.
Brown is already on pace to pass Thomas' mark, and is eying down Tatum for the franchise record next.
Brown is averaging 29.7 PPG this season, which is by far a career high for him, and he's only 0.2 away from Bird's best year and 0.4 away from Tatum's.
It would truly be one of the greatest seasons by a player in Celtics history if Brown outdoes Tatum.
If Jaylen Brown hadn't had people's respect yet for whatever reason, he should now, as he's having an MVP-level season, leading a Celtics team that had low expectations, to the #2 seed at this point.
