Bills could pursue 2 former superstar LBs to fill key free agent need

The Buffalo Bills don't have a ton of money to work with, but they could definitely use a linebacker in free agency.

If they want to aim big, two of the best LBs of their era are still available as of midday Tuesday.

That duo that remains out there: Bobby Wagner and Lavonte David.

It's not clear whether the Bills could afford them or not, but they're definitely calls that Buffalo should make to try and improve defensively.

Wagner is 35 years old now, but he's an all-time great, having made 10 Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks.

Wagner spent the last two seasons with the Washington Commanders, not missing a game.

In 2025, Wagner made 162 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions. Yep, he's still got it.

Wagner has played 11 of his 14 NFL seasons with Seattle and one with the Los Angeles Rams, too.

David is 36 years old and has played all 14 of his NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

He played all 17 games in 2025 and had 114 tackles, 3.5 sacks and an interception.

A signing of either of these guys would serve as a huge statement in bringing in strong leadership that can still produce, too.

It's certainly worth looking into for Buffalo to see if one of these legendary linebackers might be able to be acquired.
