Brandon Beane knows his job is tied to this hire.
The Bills' newly promoted president of football operations (formerly GM) chose Joe Brady as Buffalo's replacement head coach for Sean McDermott. Brady was the offensive coordinator, and he got the in-house promotion.
Beane avoided the axe this time around, even getting the elevated title. But with the Bills' contention clock ticking, Beane is also owning his reality.
He spoke with national NFL writer Tyler Dunne and shared his blunt thoughts, with a bit of strong language, about why he did what he did.
"F--- the outside," Beane said. "It's about the right selection for this team. And if we win, they'll love it."

Beane compared this to his decision to take Josh Allen in the draft.
"It's the same thing I said when I took Allen," Beane said. "If I'm wrong, the moving company will be at my house. So, I understand. And I'm not going to have regret of choosing someone to appease the outside if I thought it should have been something different. If I'm wrong, I'll f---ing take my job and f---ing go home."
One factor hovering over the Bills' decision was that Brady was interviewing for other head coaching jobs, too.
"I don't want to be wrong -- see him go somewhere else -- when my gut told me it was Joe Brady. I'm never going to do that."

Beane went on to say he doesn't care about winning the press conference.
"If I'm going to get yelled at, I'm going to get yelled at for choosing the guy that I believe can do this," Beane concluded to Dunne.
The Bills have filled out a coaching staff that people are generally excited about.
Now, though, comes the hard part for Beane. He has to build up an improved roster that gives those coaches the best possible pieces to work with.
If he can do that, Bills fans might be shouting for the right reasons.
