Bill Polian is public enemy No. 1 for the Boston Sports Guy.
Ringer founder Bill Simmons blasted the former Colts and Bills general manager, who is at the center of allegations around Bill Belichick’s first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame snub.
“Honestly? It was worth Belichick waiting a year for Bill Polian to be properly commemorated as a petty, whiny, not-honest, hypocritical, self-serving, score-settling d–khead,” Simmons wrote in a post on X. “He’s already given out two versions of his vote when we all know the truth. I’m glad this happened.”
Bill Simmons crushed Bill Polia for allegedly spearheading a punishment for Bill Belichick. Getty Images for The Recording AcademyESPN reported that Polian spearheaded the punishment of Belichick over the 2007 Spygate scandal, which he had since disputed in a quote to Sports Illustrated.
“That’s totally and categorically untrue. I voted for him,” Polian said, although, as Simmons points out, he’s been flip-flopping a bit, as in a separate interview with ESPN he said he couldn’t remember who he voted for.
Polian confirmed that he did hear other voters “float the idea” of Belichick serving a one-year wait penance for his various infractions, including Deflategate and Spygate.
Polian has had a long-standing rivalry with Belichick, as he was the general manager of the Colts from 1998-2011, when Peyton Manning had a very challenging time getting over the hump, especially against a Patriots team led by Tom Brady and Belichick.
Bill Belichick was a major rival of Bill Polian and the Colts. Getty ImagesBelichick is reportedly “puzzled” and “disappointed” by his Hall of Fame snub.
Brady had a similar reaction to his former coaches’ snubbing.
“I don’t understand it. I mean, I was with him every day. If he’s not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there’s really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, which is completely ridiculous because people deserve it,” Brady, who won six Super Bowls in New England with Belichick, said Wednesday in a radio interview with Seattle Sports.
The Patriots, now led by a former Belichick player, Mike Vrabel, will play in Super Bowl 2026 on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, Calif., where they will face the Seahawks.
