Bill Belichick accused of ignoring and being inaccessible to UNC players

If you really want to know what’s going on with North Carolina football, look no further than head coach Bill Belichick.

Despite getting the dreaded vote of confidence from the school this past week, Bill Belichick is still the most despised figure on the UNC campus.

North Carolina thought they were bringing in an ironic coach who would bring their program back, but what they ended up with is a bitter old man who is still holding grudges against his old NFL team and a young girlfriend who apparently may be pulling his strings behind the scenes.

Belichick's tenure at UNC is starting to look like Urban Meyer’s brief stint as head coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

According to a recent article by The Athletic, he comes off as arrogant and ill-informed about college football, which may explain why one of his assistants got into trouble this week with the NCAA for illegal benefits.

Anonymous staffers have called out not only Belichick but also his general manager, Michael Lombardi, for their lack of knowledge. The pair passed up a potential starting QB who was in the transfer portal and threw for over 3,700 yards because he was too short.

Instead, they went after another QB who was on a 2-10 Purdue Boilermakers team with little to no experience as a potential starter because of his height.

“It’s the arrogance of it all,” a university source told The Athletic. “Because they had success in the NFL — and by they, I mean Belichick only — they (thought) they could come in and replicate that without knowing how college football works.”

There have even been accusations within the athletic department of Belichick ignoring and being inaccessible to players, something that his been disputed by another person within the program.

The reasons why some coaches fail going from the NFL to college, is because like Belichick, instead of treating players like amateur athletes, they treat them like professionals, and that always seems to backfire.
