The Winnipeg Jets staved off elimination in impressive fashion Thursday night.
The Jets played a stoic, structured game and eventually were rewarded with a 4-0 victory over the Dallas Stars.
The series is still 3-2 in Dallas’ favor with Game 6 coming Saturday night in Texas, but it seems foolish to just write off Winnipeg.
The Jets did win the Presidents’ Trophy during the regular season, after all.

This series has been remarkably close. Winnipeg actually has scored more goals overall (13-11) than Dallas, but the two teams each have seven goals at 5-on-5.
It only gets tighter beyond that.
Dallas holds a slight, 98-95, edge in terms of shots on goal at 5-on-5, while the Jets have out-attempted the Stars, 214-204, at full strength.
The expected goals and high-danger scoring chances tilt slightly back in Dallas’ favor.
The Stars do have home-ice advantage Saturday night, but this one is a coin flip.
