Katsuyori Shibata is a regular and exciting fixture on AEW television on a weekly basis. As the Japanese star celebrated a personal milestone, the Jacksonville-based promotion also extended its wishes to their superstar.

The former IWGP Tag Team Champion began making appearances for All Elite Wrestling in 2022, mainly in its sister company, Ring of Honor. In 2025, Shibata officially signed with Tony Khan's promotion, and that same year, he began teaming up with HOOK and Samoa Joe, collectively known as 'The Opps.'

As of today, Shibata is still an active member of the faction alongside Joe and their new ally, Powerhouse Hobbs. With the trio laying their dominance following a heel turn at the 2025 WrestleDream pay-per-view, Shibata entered a new year of his life on the occasion of his 45th birthday, with AEW also wishing him on X.

Katsuyori Shibata and The Opps are currently feuding with the AEW World Champion

Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs, and their leader, Samoa Joe, are currently embroiled in a heated feud with the reigning AEW World Champion, Hangman Adam Page. The program took an interesting turn at the 2025 WrestleDream pay-per-view.

The Hangman and The Samoan Submission Machine collided in an epic showdown for the World Championship. Despite his valiant effort, Joe failed to defeat Page, and the entire group then attacked him, cementing their heel turn.

Ahead of Samoa Joe getting a rematch against The Hangman inside a Steel Cage for the World title at Full Gear 2025, Katsuyori Shibata is set to battle Page on the upcoming edition of Dynamite. The match was made following the Millennial Cowboy's victory over Powerhouse Hobbs in a Falls Count Anywhere match at the Blood and Guts 2025 episode.

While Hobbs failed to beat Page, it remains to be seen if Shibata can get the job done for his Opps cohort, Samoa Joe.
