Buccaneers' Kenneth Gainwell has ideal quote on 2026 goal

New Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Kenneth Gainwell is ready to get down to business with his teammates.

After a year in Pittsburgh, where Gainwell was a key piece in the run and pass game, he now brings his talents to Tampa Bay.

With the Buccaneers moving on from Rachaad White, it leaves Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker as the other backs on the roster for Gainwell to compete with.

But he also gets a vastly different quarterback in Baker Mayfield.

And make no mistake, he's ready to get rolling with Baker.

"I know he's a very tough guy," Gainwell said. "I love exactly what he does. Hopefully, we can get a lot of connection going and him passing the ball to the running back, us doing a lot of things, just excited to play football with him, being a side with him. Let's just take over this division."

Gainwell a shrewd Bucs signing

Given how the Buccaneers love to run the ball and use their running backs in the passing game, you could make the case that Gainwell is going to be a great fit.

Last season for the Steelers, Gainwell rushed for 537 yards and 5 TDs, but as a receiver, he posted 486 yards and 3 TDs from a whopping 73 receptions, 40 more than his previous career high.

So, he comes to Tampa with the ability to be multiple and help the offense in a variety of ways.

Yes, Irving will be the lead back, but in Gainwell, the Bucs are hoping that they will once again have a dominant two-headed monster out of the backfield.
