The 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy Round 4 was held on Wednesday, December 31, to close out yet another memorable year in Indian domestic cricket. Much like the earlier round of fixtures in the competition, high totals were a common trend as the List A season hits its optimum gear in the group stage.
Mumbai created history by amassing a record score of 444-8 in their mammoth win over Goa in Jaipur. On the other end of the spectrum lies Jammu and Kashmir, who were skittled out for just 63 in their clash against Bengal in Rajkot.
A total of 10 scores of over 300 were witnessed across the 16 matches that were played all over the country in Round 4 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, which goes to show how the players are approaching the one-day format in these modern times.
On that note, let us take a look at the best playing 11 of Round 4 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26.
Top Order: Aryan Juyal, Devdutt Padikkal, and Abhirath Reddy
Devdutt Padikkal struck his third hundred in his last four matches to continue his purple patch in List-A cricket. He smashed 113 runs off 116 deliveries in Karnataka's win over Puducherry, as the 228-run opening partnership he shared with fellow centurion Mayank Agarwal went a long way in the team posting 363-4 on the board.
Aryan Juyal has had a stellar start to the Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign as part of a flying Uttar Pradesh outfit. After recently smashing a hundred against Chandigarh, he went one step further to record an unbeaten 150 runs off 140 deliveries in the win over Assam.
Hyderabad batter Abhirath Reddy, having scored an unbeaten 175 in a historic run chase in the Ranji Trophy clash against Himachal Pradesh, was the star of the show in yet another mammoth run chase attempt. Set a target of 418 by Baroda, Abhirah Reddy smashed 130 runs off 90 deliveries to keep his side in the hunt, but his knock ended in vain as they ended up 37 runs short.
Middle Order: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Krunal Pandya
After his recent impression at No.4 for India in Shreyas Iyer's absence, Ruturaj Gaikwad is on the lookout to make the position his own. Leading Maharashtra against Uttarakhand, the right-handed batter, featuring in the middle order once again, scored 124 runs off 113 deliveries to help his team post 331 runs in the first innings.
The in-form Mumbai batter, Sarfaraz Khan, after a successful 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign, was at his explosive best in the thumping 87-run win over Goa. He dominated the bowlers en route to his 157-run tally off just 75 deliveries. His knock included eight fours and 14 sixes, and came at a strike rate of 209.33.
The Baroda skipper, Krunal Pandya, starred with the bat in the clash against Hyderabad by recording an unbeaten 109 runs off 63 deliveries at a strike rate of 173.02. This marks his third consecutive score of over 50, as he has scored 57 and 82 runs against Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, respectively.
Lower Order: Ramakrishna Ghosh, Shardul Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, Anshul Kamboj, Hrithik Shokeen
After recently running the show against Chhattisgarh with the ball, Mumbai skipper Shardul Thakur, chipped in with both bat and ball in the clash against Goa. He slammed an 8-ball 27-run cameo, before ending with stellar figures of 3-20 off his 6 overs in the second innings.
Ramakrishna Ghosh made the headlines in Round 3 with his seven-wicket haul, and the Maharashtra pacer made the most of his momentum. He showcased his ability with the bat by slamming a quickfire 47 runs off 31 deliveries, and then rattled the Uttarakhand top order with a fiery opening spell. He conceded only 24 runs off his six overs and picked two wickets as well.
Among frontline pacers, it was the traditional seam bowling duo of Mukesh Kumar and Anshul Kamboj that stole the show. Mukesh Kumar bagged match-winning figures of 4-16 off six overs to skittle out Jammu and Kashmir for just 63 runs. Kamboj, on the other hand, registered figures of 4-43 in Haryana's seven-wicket win over Services.
Delhi's Hrithik Shokeen was the standout spinner in Round 4 of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. The right-arm off-spinner recorded figures of 4-27 off his 10 overs against Odisha. However, his spell was in vain since the opposition scored 272-8 in the first innings, and eventually recorded a 79-run win. The youngster even scored a spirited cameo of 32 runs off 24 deliveries, but it did not prove to be enough.
