Ben and Casey Affleck’s mom, Chris, dead at 83 following pancreatic cancer battle

Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck’s mom, Chris Anne Affleck, has died at 83.

The actors’ mother lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on June 2, per the Hollywood Reporter.

She “died peacefully in her sleep.”

The outlet noted that, according to the former teacher’s obituary, she was diagnosed with the disease in December 2025.

At the time, she was given six months to live.

Reps for Ben and Casey did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

Chris, born Christopher Anne Boldt, was born in New York City in December 1942 and went on to graduate from Harvard University.

She taught public school kids for 35 years, retiring in 2008.

Chris welcomed Ben, now 53, and Casey, now 50, in 1972 and 1975, respectively, while married to then-husband Timothy Affleck.

The pair divorced when Ben was a preteen.

In addition to her sons, Chris is survived by five grandchildren.

Ben is the father of Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Sam, 12, while Casey has two adult children — Indiana, 22, and Atticus, 18.

Chris’ obituary noted that she wished, upon receiving her diagnosis, to watch Atticus graduate from high school — and was, in fact, present for the May 31 ceremony.

“Chris was suitably proud of her descendants’ achievements,” the obituary read. “But she was delighted when they questioned, defied, or cleverly engaged authority.”

Both Ben and Casey, who are award-winning actors and directors, have gushed over their mom’s support of their careers over the years.

“My mother was really supportive,” the latter told Boston Magazine in 2006.

The following year, Ben credited his mom with getting into acting, explaining to Parade that “a friend of [hers] was a casting director” so he “got into acting … as kind of a lark.”
