Baker Mayfield initially signed a one-year deal worth $4 million with the Buccaneers back in 2023. That season, he helped the team qualify for the playoffs, where they lost to the Detroit Lions in the divisional round.

In March 2024, the Bucs gave the quarterback a three-year extension worth up to $100 million. Mayfield led them to another playoff appearance with a 10-7 record. However, this time, they were eliminated by the Washington Commanders in the wild-card round. He recorded 4,500 yards and 41 TDs receiving.

This season, heading into Thursday's game against the Falcons, the Bucs lead the NFC South with a 7-6 record. Mayfield missed the second half of their 34-7 loss to the Rams in Week 12 after suffering a left shoulder injury in the first half. So far, he has tallied 2,722 yards and 20 TDs passing.

Baker Mayfield shares his honest thoughts on his team's recent offensive struggles

The Buccaneers have won just one of their last five games, with the offense struggling to create scoring chances on the field.

During Wednesday's press conference, Baker Mayfield shed some light on this situation.

"I think it comes back to what haven't kind of hit on after the games that we lost," Mayfield said. "It's the little things, whether it's me being on time with my footwork, getting the protection aligned, to where we can all be on the same page. ... And then it just comes down to execute it. "So it's not one thing you can point at it. But it's a culmination of all those things and yeah, we're gonna fix it."
