The Chicago Bears are heading into Week 7 against the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football with plenty of optimism coming off a Week 6 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
While the Bears' defense played fairly well against the Falcons, they could really use another cornerback. The defense was burned by the Green Bay Packers in Week 5, so adding a cornerback by the trade deadline would make a ton of sense.
With that in mind, ESPN's Ben Solak is predicting the Bears link up with the Philadelphia Eagles on a big trade, acquiring Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen from Philadelphia in exchange for a mid-round pick.
Bears predicted to trade for Riq Woolen from Eagles
"CB Riq Woolen to the Bears for a 2027 fourth-round pick," Solak predicts. "... If a team comes calling with a strong enough offer, the Eagles can dodge the comp pick calculations and get value for Woolen now."
Solak believes the Bears could be the team that comes calling on the Eagles about Woolen and is willing to offer a price that Philadelphia would accept.
A fourth-round pick for a rental cornerback like Woolen might seem like a lot, but considering this Bears team has a chance to go on a deep playoff run, and cornerback is their clear weakness, it's a low price to pay for a very high-upside CB.

While Woolen will have a few bad plays now and then, the upside of Woolen is extremely appealing. Dennis Allen's defense could use a player like Woolen, especially if it doesn't cost Ryan Poles more than a fourth-round pick.
Besides, if the Bears decide to let him walk, they're likely to get that fourth-round pick back in the future, or get an upgrade with a third-round compensatory pick coming their way if Woolen thrives this season and lands a massive deal next offseason.
This trade prediction from Solak makes perfect sense for the Bears, and it'd also make sense for an Eagles team that's in a free-fall with Jalen Hurts done for the season and plenty of other issues dragging that team down.
