The Chicago Bears had the first overall pick two years ago and took Caleb Williams first overall. Jayden Daniels went one pick later, and then Drake Maye went third overall.
It's looking like a great run of quarterbacks, and while Daniels made the NFC Championship in 2024, and Maye made the AFC Championship in 2025, the Bears still made the right choice.
While there wasn't any specific claim to spur this response, ESPN's Dan Graziano pushed back on the notion that the Bears made the wrong choice between Williams and Maye.
Bears made right QB choice in 2024 NFL Draft
"Maye is awesome - a wonderful, wonderful young player with a bright future ahead of him that might include a Super title in his second year as a pro," Graziano writes. "He might have a better career than Williams. But if you're a Bears fan, you aren't wishing your team had Maye instead."
While Maye is a great quarterback and has made it further than Williams has in his second year, there's no reason why Bears fans, or anyone, should believe the Bears made the wrong pick.
Last year, there was talk that Daniels was the better quarterback than Williams, and that the Bears might've made a mistake. Well, based on what Williams has done this season with Ben Johnson, those concerns were proven wrong.

And now, anyone worrying that Williams was the wrong pick over Maye is also in the wrong. Williams can make magic happen, as seen on his incredible touchdown pass to Cole Kmet in the Divisional round.
While there are areas of his game he needs to improve on, like his turnovers, there's no doubt that Williams was the right pick.
Williams, Maye, Daniels, and the rest of the quarterbacks from the 2024 draft class will be compared to one another. And while Williams hasn't made it as far as the other two top-three picks, the promise he's shown should give Bears fans all the confidence in the world that their team nailed their first-overall pick two years ago.
