D'Andre Swift joined the Chicago Bears back in 2024, signing a three-year free-agent contract. Now, he's back with Ben Johnson, whom he worked with during his time at the Detroit Lions, and things are going swimmingly well, according to Johnson.
Chicago wants to get to that final game, and Johnson is obviously an offensive-minded coach. With that in mind, it's an important year for Swift and time for him to step it up.
Johnson believes he'll do just that. In fact, the head coach is giving Swift some major props going into the fresh season.
Ben Johnson has high praise for Swift
Speaking with the press on Thursday amid the team's joint practice, Johnson sang the praises of Swift.
Johnson even said the way he is playing is the "best I've seen him this time of year."
"You look back a year ago. He was very explosive, and yet it takes a little while to gel between him and the offensive line," Johnson added. "I think he's accelerating his vision here at this point."
He added that running backs coach Eric Studesville "has been fantastic for him, just with the reads and being able to know the intent of where we're trying to hit things. He bounces it when we're supposed to bounce it. He hits it right on the spot when it's there, and then he cuts it up."
So, overall, Johnson says Swift is "doing a really good job right now." So long as he gets healthy for the new season, Johnson promises that Swift is "primed for a big year."
