The New England Patriots finally pulled off the long-awaited blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for wide receiver A.J. Brown.
A 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick will be heading Philadelphia's way for Brown, who will step in as New England's No. 1 receiver and give quarterback Drake Maye an alpha playmaker.
With Brown now on the Patriots, the team has one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the NFL, leading to some trade speculation on whether a young receiver could be on the move soon.
Adam Schefter says Kayshon Boutte is interested in a trade
During his podcast on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter said to keep an eye on the Patriots potentially trading wide receiver Kayshon Boutte. The LSU product hasn't been in attendance at New England's OTA sessions so far.
Schefter added that Boutte has been interested in exploring a trade out of New England, and that sentiment could be even stronger with Brown coming to town.
"One wide receiver I’m still suspecting that something might happen with is Kayshon Boutte," Schefter said. "He has not been there for the offseason program. He has been interested in a trade. I would think that at some point this summer, we may get action there. Another deal, Kayshon Boutte going somewhere else. We’ll see how that works out."
Boutte had a nice 2025 campaign, posting 551 yards and six touchdowns on 33 receptions. The 24-year-old established himself as the dynamic deep threat on the Patriots' offense and a solid No. 2 for Maye.
With the additions of Brown and Romeo Doubs, Boutte is currently slated to be the WR3, but if New England can get some value for the former sixth-round pick, they should take it. Kyle Williams or Demario Douglas could easily step into that No. 3 receiver role, and the Patriots also still have Mack Hollins, who is solid depth.
Bears, Chiefs, or Raiders should trade for Boutte
As for teams that could be interested in trading for Boutte, the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, and Las Vegas Raiders could give the Patriots a call.
Chicago is set to field Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III as their top two receivers, but acquiring Boutte would add even more explosiveness to the offense. Boutte scored all six of his touchdowns from 20-plus yards in 2025, and could be even more electric with the Bears playing with Caleb Williams.
Kansas City desperately needs to sign or trade for a wide receiver, as Rashee Rice's off-the-field issues continue, and the position group is just lackluster. Trading a Day 3 pick for Boutte to serve as a consistent playmaker and big play threat would be a savvy move by general manager Brett Veach.
Finally, Las Vegas didn't do much to improve the receiver room this offseason outside of signing Jalen Nailor. Adding Boutte to the mix would give quarterbacks Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza another receiving option with high-end speed and downfield playmaking.
Overall, if the Patriots decide to deal Boutte, they should send him to a team where he can get playing time and make an impact. The Bears, Chiefs, and Raiders make a ton of sense for the ascending wideout.
