Bears’ Ben Johnson has insane goal for Caleb Williams and Chicago this year

As the Chicago Bears get prepared for the 2026-27 NFL season, the biggest focus is on winning a Super Bowl. The Bears really showed last season that they can be one of the best teams in the NFL at any given moment and impressed when it mattered most down the stretch. 

Quarterback Caleb Williams really came into his own, showing not only that he can be an above-average quarterback, but even more than what people thought he could be when entering the league.

While the goal is to win a Super Bowl for this organization, head coach Ben Johnson also has his sights set on other things. With how well Williams played last season and his ridiculous offensive mind, it's not crazy to say that he can accomplish it.

“You’ve got 31 other teams coming to training camp saying, ‘Our goal is to win the Super Bowl,'” Johnson told The Athletic's Dan Pompei. “I want more than that. I want to have the highest-scoring offense ever, which happens to be the 2013 Denver Broncos. I know how many points per game they scored (37.9), and I want to surpass them. I want shutouts. I want blowouts.”

Scoring 38 points per game in this era of the NFL would be absolutely insane, but I'm not one that's going to doubt what Johnson has done on the offensive side of the football throughout his coaching career. 

If Williams can continue to develop and the Bears click on all cylinders, perhaps anything is possible. I'd genuinely be shocked to see a team score nearly 40 points, but it's a nice bar to set for the organization.
