Dylan Veselic, a sophomore on the Bay Village (Ohio) boys' lacrosse team, died of injuries sustained during a game, school officials announced Thursday morning.
Veselic was injured on Tuesday evening when Bay Village took on Olmstead Falls.

While attempting to defend a shot from an Olmstead Falls player, Veselic was struck at the base of the back of the head below his helmet, according to WKYC.

“We are deeply touched by the overwhelming support and kindness shown by our community and beyond. We ask that you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," the Veselic family wrote, per Fox 8.
