The second annual GET IT DONE B.C., hosted by Resource Works at The Vancouver Club on the eve of the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention, brought together members of Parliament and the legislature, more than 70 municipal leaders, Indigenous leaders, elected officials and senior representatives from British Columbia’s resource and business sectors for a day of lively discussion about the province’s economic future.

The 2026 program featured the Hon. Adrian Dix, Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, as keynote speaker, alongside leaders representing different political perspectives and regions of the province.

“We cannot afford to delay any longer. Not if we’re going to build the economy we need. Not if we’re going to become more resilient in terms of electricity. Not if we’re going to become closer knit and stronger as a society,” said the Hon. Adrian Dix, Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs.

“What we heard throughout the day was a need for practical solutions and immediate action. Communities want investment and industry needs certainty. The challenge now is turning opportunity into action,” said Stewart Muir, President and CEO of Resource Works Society.

Throughout the day, discussions examined the increasingly connected pressures facing British Columbia’s economy, including growing electricity demand tied to industrial development and investment.

Natural resource projects depend on infrastructure and access to markets. Companies are looking for greater regulatory certainty and competitiveness. Communities need investment to support jobs, services and local infrastructure. At the same time, Indigenous ownership and partnerships are increasingly shaping how major projects are developed across the province.

During Resource Projects and the Path to Partnership, Á’a:líya Warbus, MLA for Chilliwack-Cultus Lake, joined lawyer Malcolm Macpherson in a discussion moderated by Resource Works Managing Director Margareta Dovgal.

“We’re trying to find prosperity that can be available to both sides. Everybody wants to live a good life. Everybody wants to be able to afford a good life,” Warbus said.
