Austin Reaves' agent makes bold trade announcement amid Lakers rumors

The NBA offseason is trade rumors season, and Austin Reaves' name has been plenty involved.

There may not be any truth to these rumors, but it hasn't gone unnoticed by the Los Angeles Lakers star guard and his agent.

Reaves' agent took to X to deliver a message about these rumors.

“Next year is going to be a show," agent Aaron Reilly wrote. "People have no idea what’s to come. Keep putting him in trade rumors for second string centers.”

Reaves was already rising quickly up the NBA's ranks in 2024-25. He averaged 20.2 points, 5.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 38 percent from distance.

He may not be a perfect fit next to LeBron James and Luka Doncic, but dealing Reaves would have to come at a steep price, certainly not for a "second-string center."

The Lakers likely feel like Reaves is a massive win of drafting and development. He went from an afterthought to a star in just a few years.

Trading him now would only be worthwhile if it fetched a supremely talented big guy in return. And there really aren't many of those out there.

Reaves will turn 27 on May 29, so he's still got plenty of prime in front of him.

Given the thoughts of Reaves' agent, maybe it's wise for the Lakers to keep Reaves around. They won't want to miss out on the brilliance that is still to come.
