The Atlanta Hawks and the New Orleans Pelicans will face each other at the Smoothie King Center on Saturday. Both teams enter this game hoping to end their losing streaks.
The Pelicans (2–14) are enduring the joint-longest losing streak in the West, having dropped eight straight. The Hawks (9–7) aren’t in great form either, coming off back-to-back losses that have pushed them down to seventh in the East.

Atlanta Hawks vs. New Orleans Pelicans preview
The Atlanta Hawks’ 135–126 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday marked their first back-to-back defeat of the month. After a strong start to November, winning six of their first eight, the team has now dropped two straight.
The Hawks’ recent slide has been driven largely by their defensive struggles. They’ve surrendered over 120 points in each of their last four games and now allow 115.7 points per contest (15th in the league). Meanwhile, their offense has dropped too, averaging a 17th-best 117.8 points per game.
Jalen Johnson has been the Hawks’ standout this season, averaging 22.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. Nickeil Alexander-Walker has backed him up well, adding 19.7 points per contest.
On the other hand, the New Orleans Pelicans haven’t won a game this month. They opened the season with six straight losses and briefly turned things around with back-to-back wins in early November. However, they have since dropped eight in a row.
They rank last in the league on offense, averaging just 109.3 points and 22.9 assists per game. Their defense hasn’t fared much better either, as they sit 24th in the league, giving up 121.8 points per contest.
Trey Murphy III continues to lead them from the forefront, with the forward debutizing as the shooting guard amid injury problems. He is averaging 19.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
In terms of injuries, both teams are shorthanded, but the Hawks are dealing with the bigger setback. Trae Young (knee), N’Faly Dante (knee), and Eli John N’Diyae (coach’s decision) remain out, while Onyeka Okongwu is listed as probable.
The Pelicans will be without Dejounte Murray and Jordan Poole, with Karlo Markovic considered day-to-day.
