Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom could be a massive steal in fantasy

1 hour ago 2

The offensive success of the Athletics last season was incredible. Between guys like Brent Rooker, Tyler Soderstrom, Nick Kurtz, and others, they had no problem hitting home runs left and right.

During the 2025 regular season, they finished with a combined 219 home runs. That was the seventh-most across MLB, right behind the Chicago Cubs

Offense should carry the team again this year, and fans may want to pay attention to Soderstrom. He is coming into the new season with a bit more confidence, being a finalist for a Gold Glove Award and signing a seven-year extension over the winter.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom could be a massive steal in fantasy

Many fantasy owners will likely be looking to see who is available on this A's club when it is their turn to draft. Home runs are huge, and if you can find an offensive tank with good value, you take it.

Many owners will look to see if Nick Kurtz or Brent Rooker is available. However, ESPN's Jeff Passan suggests paying attention to Tyler Soderstrom.

"Tyler Soderstrom is being drafted more than 80 spots below teammate Brent Rooker, and by the end of 2026, their lines could look similar. The A's didn't lavish a seven-year, $86 million contract on Soderstrom by accident. They believe he's one of the best young hitters in baseball. And their Sacramento bandbox is the perfect place to show it."

Soderstrom played in 158 regular-season games in 2025, hitting .276/.346/.474 with 25 home runs and 93 runs batted in. That is only five home runs behind Rooker, who is being drafted much higher.

Soderstrom could be a really good value pick, who could outperform those drafted ahead of him. If you're looking for someone who is projected to put up better numbers than they did last year, look no further than the A's slugger.
