On Monday, the Athletics lost their opener in the second series of the season against the Atlanta Braves, 4-0, bringing their overall record to 0-4.
With the loss and the win by the Arizona Diamondbacks over the Detroit Tigers, the Athletics have now become the only winless team in the league.

Based on how the last couple of seasons have played out for the team, that is not the ideal situation, but it has become common territory for them.
The Athletics know this feeling all too well
Over the last four seasons, including the last few in Oakland, the Athletics have finished either fourth or fifth in the AL West, and the fact that the division is one of the most competitive in baseball doesn't help.
Aside from Monday, run production has not been much of a problem for the team, as they put up decent fights in the series to kick off the season against the reigning AL champions, the Toronto Blue Jays.
Pitching, on the other hand, has been an issue for the Athletics, and at a certain point, it doesn't matter how many runs you score if the bullpen can't hold the opposing team from scoring.
In the four games, the Athletics have given up three or more runs in all of their games so far this season.
The schedule is also not very favorable for the Athletics, as they have upcoming series against the Houston Astros, both New York teams, and the Texas Rangers in their next four games after they conclude the Atlanta series.
Tuesday night will be the second game of the series between the Athletics and the Braves, as the team looks to secure its first win of the season.
