Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign one of the club's defensive assets to a new contract.
Right-back Matty Cash has put pen to paper on a new three-and-half-year extension with the Premier League side, keeping him at Villa Park until the end of the 2028/29 campaign.
The player's previous deal was set to run out in summer 2027, but he now looks set to reach a near-decade with Villa.
Cash joined the club from Nottingham Forest ahead of the 2020/21 season for a total fee of £16m.
Since making the step up to the Premier League, Cash has made 193 appearances in a Villa shirt and gone on to make his international debut for the Polish national side, with his mother's ties to the country making him eligible to represent the nation.
New contract follows strong outings for Cash

Cash's new deal reflects his impressive form of late, which included him scoring the only goal of Villa's 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday (October 26).

This marked a second goal for the defender this season and his second successive Player of the Match award in the league, as he was also deemed the best player on the pitch in Villa's 2-1 away at Tottenham Hotspur recently.
Cash reflected on his recent displays after Unai Emery's side took down City, stating: "I'm playing with a lot of confidence," via BBC Sport.
"This season it seems to be going my way and every time I get the ball on the edge of the box, I've got confidence and feel like I'm going to hit the target a lot of the time, the 28-year-old added.
Cash will be hoping he can continue his run of good performances when Villa take on an out-of-form Liverpool side at Anfield this coming Saturday (November 1).
