For the first time since October 4, Arsenal enter into a Premier League matchday not sitting first in the table as they host Newcastle United in a mission critical match with just five remaining in the 2025/26 season.
The Gunners have led the Premier League title race for nearly the entire season, but defeat to Manchester City last time out has seen them exhaust their wiggle room. They now sit second in the standings, level on points and goal differential but behind on goals scored.
With City in FA Cup semifinal action this weekend, Arsenal can recapture the advantage in the table, forcing their title rivals to once again play catch-up. Any further slips and they will be categorically behind in the title race.
Newcastle, meanwhile, sit 14th in the standings, having lost each of their last three Premier League matches to put Eddie Howe's position as manager in question as the season comes to a close.
