Arsenal injury list: Players out, potential return dates, predicted lineup for next game vs. Nottingham Forest

Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table as they navigate a testing run of January fixtures.

Mikel Arteta's side maintained their lead over Manchester City across Christmas, and put some distance between themselves and Aston Villa with a win over the third-place side to end 2025. A battling win at Bournemouth kept the pressure on the chasing pack, while Man City's draw with Chelsea gave them more room.

This is a tricky month to navigate, though. After a home draw with Liverpool and a 3-2 win at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semifinal first leg, the Gunners have a meeting with Manchester United and a UEFA Champions League trip to Inter Milan to come.

City's defeat to United in the Manchester derby on January 17 gave Arsenal a huge chance to start running away with the title.

Here is how their injury list looks, when they can expect players to return, and what their predicted lineup looks like for their next game.

Arsenal injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Arsenal, and estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Piero Hincapie

  • Injury: Groin
  • Expected return date: January 25 (vs. Man United)

Hincapie hobbled off during the draw with Liverpool on January 8 after appearing to hurt his left leg. Arteta later confirmed he had suffered a groin injury, so it is not likely he will be rushed back into action this week.

Riccardo Calafiori

  • Injury: Muscle (undisclosed)
  • Expected return date: Early February

Calafiori pulled out of the Brighton game during the warm-up. Arteta said the Italy defender "felt something very awkward" and he has not been involved since. It was hoped he could return at Chelsea, but Arteta later revealed it was likely to be another couple of weeks at least until Calafiori is ready to play.

Cristhian Mosquera

  • Injury: Ankle
  • Expected return date: Early February

Former Valencia man Mosquera suffered an ankle injury in early December, which Arteta deemed "complicated." He was likely to be out for "weeks", which was "longer than what we expected" according to the Arsenal boss. Like Calafiori, it was hoped Mosquera could be back for the Chelsea trip, but Arteta said he was "still a few weeks away".

Max Dowman

  • Injury: Ankle
  • Expected return date: Early February

Shuttled back and forth between Arsenal's first team and the U-21 side, Dowman picked up an ankle injury in the youth team's victory over Manchester United in early December. Speaking on January 13, Arteta said Dowman was likely looking at a similar layoff to Mosquera.
