Alright, alright, alright. Texas quarterback Arch Manning is learning how to handle fame from none other than UT Austin’s own “Minister of Culture,” Matthew McConaughey.
The Oscar-winning actor and proud Longhorn alumnus has recently taken on an informal mentorship role with Manning, offering advice on navigating the pressures of life in the public eye. According to The Athletic, Manning said McConaughey encouraged him to embrace the attention without letting it consume him.
“He kind of just told me that you still have to live your life,” Manning said. “He told me, ‘You can’t let you taking a picture or signing an autograph affect your life" McConaughey, known for his laid-back philosophy and signature catchphrase – “Keep on L-I-V-I-N”—has long been a presence in Texas athletics, especially football.
Manning was recently spotted “L-I-V-I-N” that motto in action alongside LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier during an event at Raising Cane’s following the Manning Passing Academy. This is another example of the relaxed, grounded mindset McConaughey continues to preach.
