Thanks to an impressive comeback, No. 22 Texas continued its winning ways with an overtime win over Mississippi State on Saturday. Impressive as the win was, it came with a frightening moment for star QB Arch Manning.
During Texas' first possession in overtime, Manning exited the game with an injury. He did not return to the game.

College football concussion protocol
The concussion protocol in college football is a multi-step process for players who are confirmed to have a concussion.
The return-to-play process is supervised and requires a physician's clearance as the final step. These steps include light aerobic exercise, sport-specific exercise without head impact, and non-contact practice with progressive resistance before unrestricted training.
The affected player must complete each step without experiencing any concussion symptoms.
Who is Matthew Caldwell?
Caldwell is a fifth-year quarterback who is in his first season at Texas. He is second on the Longhorns' QB depth chart behind Manning.
Before playing at Texas, Caldwell played at three other schools. He spent the 2024 season at Troy and, before that, spent time at Gardner-Webb and Jacksonville State.
Caldwell is from Auburn, Ala., and attended Auburn High School.
