Anthony Edwards credits Victor Wembanyama for making the All-Star Game entertaining

The 2026 NBA All-Star Game was a hit for almost everyone within the NBA community. Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards came out as the overall MVP of the game, but it was San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama who came out as one of the biggest winners as well.

From tip-off, Wembanyama was immediately aggressive. He won the tip against Edwards, and then he proceeded to sprint into the paint to seal off his defender and get a dunk. That was a big play for the All-Star Game because it set the tone for the rest of the game.

Edwards admits Wembanyama was the reason the All-Star Game was much better

Wembanyama's investment in the game shows that he was ready to make the All-Star Game much more exciting this time around. It has been a long-standing problem for this event, as most people do not feel it is a showcase for star players to perform at their best.

In recent years, it became a boring game because the players were not invested in making plays. That was not the case this year because Edwards, Wembanyama, and even Kawhi Leonard had some fantastic performances that got people cheering.

It is a sight for sore eyes to have the NBA's best players having fun during All-Star Weekend. The rest of the events were quite fun, especially with the blockbuster Three-Point Contest that involved Damian Lillard winning for a third time.

However, it seems that people can lessen their worries about the All-Star Game because it showed that some players truly cared. Wembanyama and Edwards are often considered the next faces of the league, so stars being this invested is a good thing for the NBA.

"He set the tone. It was definitely competitive with all three teams. The oldheads played hard, too; they were playing really good defense. He set the tone, man, and it woke me up for sure," Edwards said in his post-game press conference.

Moving forward, the All-Star Game could maintain this format. It will be up to Adam Silver and his team, as they will find ways to keep improving All-Star Weekend. The Slam Dunk Contest might be at the top of that agenda, but at least the All-Star Game had promising developments this time around.
