Anthony Davis fires back at Kyle Kuzma after the latter threw some shade at him

The Los Angeles Lakers made some sweeping changes in the span of 30 minutes at the start of free agency. It all kicked off with a massive sign-and-trade with the Utah Jazz for center Walker Kessler.

He is the type of center that Anthony Davis was clamoring for when he was still with the Lakers. Davis always wanted to play the power forward position, but he was shoehorned into playing center often during his tenure with the Lakers.

For the longest time, a lot of people were critical of Davis because he did not want to play center. Many called him out for his lack of physicality to play the center position, but he always had his preferences for his position.

The Lakers won a championship with Davis playing more of the power forward position back in 2020. He was playing alongside Javale McGee and Dwight Howard, which ended up crucial because it opened up Davis for a more natural play style.

Since that 2020 championship, the Lakers have not given Davis the right center partner he wanted. That eventually led to the trade for Luka Doncic in 2025, which has turned the franchise on its head because they don't even have LeBron James now.

With Luka, they are pairing him with a good center in Kessler. The new Lakers center would have been the perfect fit alongside Davis, which Lakers fans have pointed out.

This led former Laker Kyle Kuzma to speak about how Davis and James took up the lion's share of the money during their time in Los Angeles.

"Stop it 0. Lol," Davis said in his simple reply to Kuzma's comment on Instagram.

Unfortunately for Davis, his time with the Lakers did not progress as much as he would have wanted. He still has a championship to his name, but there was lost potential had general manager Rob Pelinka gave Davis what he wanted.
