With so much hype coming into the 2026 season, it's hard to see the state that the New York Mets are in. They're losing series after series, and that hasn't changed since they fired their manager, Carlos Mendoza, last week.
There's not much hope for this team, and the front office is looking toward the future. They should be complete sellers by the deadline, looking to retool their farm system quickly.
Fans should prepare to see names like Freddy Peralta, Clay Holmes, Brooks Raley, and A.J. Minter likely to be gone, as well as Luke Weaver, who has been one of the few bright spots for the Mets this year.

Another losing week freezes the Mets in the power rankings basement
After letting go of Carlos Mendoza, the club decided to make senior vice president of player development, Andy Green, the interim manager, and he certainly had his work cut out for him during his first full week.
The Mets squared off against the Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves in two road series that did not go their way. They ended up losing both series 1-2, making for a 2-4 week.
With another losing week, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller has kept this team at No. 30 in his latest power rankings.
"If firing Carlos Mendoza was supposed to cure what ailed the Mets, when, pray tell, does that transformation begin? Because they have thus far lost all three series with Andy Green calling the shots and setting the lineups. Including the end of Mendoza's time at the helm, they have lost 12 of their last 15, falling to a dozen games out of the playoff picture. Bring on the fire sale."
At least the New York Knicks had success this year because it isn't coming from the baseball team, not this season.
It will be back to the drawing board for the front office as they look to make this team a consistent NL powerhouse.
