Anne Burrell made plans to ‘celebrate’ her ‘new life’ before sudden death

Anne Burrell had plans to “celebrate” her “new life” with fellow chef Shirley Chung prior to her shocking death on Tuesday.

“Chef Anne, it was my honor to be able to cook next to you, thank you for all the wise words and advice. I can’t believe you are gone so soon,” Chung, 48, wrote in her Instagram tribute to the late star.

The Chinese-American chef, who recently announced that she was in remission after being diagnosed with stage 4 tongue cancer last July, shared a carousel of photos and videos featuring herself and Burrell smiling together.

“We were just texting about eating tacos and knitting blankets last week, we were going to celebrate our new life,” she continued.

“I didn’t believe this is real, I am heart broken, RIP my friend.”

The “BBQ Brawl” star’s passing sent shockwaves throughout the industry as other chefs and Food Network stars shared touching tributes honoring Burrell online.

Among those who remembered the “Beat Bobby Flay” star was fellow chef Elizabeth Falkner, who revealed she and Burrell made a heartfelt vow to “be even better friends” after their recent reunion.

“I just want to say that I always admired her and her cooking. We hung out back in the OG days late nights in NY here and there,” Falkner shared, noting that she and Burrell “reconnected” last week.

“We just sang some songs and laughed. I feel blessed that she came to my dinner and she thanked me profusely for inviting her. We made a vow to be even better friends.”

Burrell was pronounced dead on Tuesday after she was found unconscious at her Brooklyn, NY, home early that morning. She was 55 years old.

“Her smile lit up every room she entered,” her loved ones wrote in a statement confirming the sad news.

“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

Burrell’s official cause of death remains unknown. However, a rep for the New York City Fire Department told Page Six Wednesday that a 911 caller claimed she went into “cardiac arrest” and was “DOA [dead on arrival].”
