Last season, the pitching staff was a huge letdown for the Los Angeles Angels. They finished the season with a combined 4.89 ERA, which was the third-worst across MLB.
The front office has made it its mission to sign pitchers this winter who could potentially put the Los Angeles Angels in a better spot for 2026. They acquired Grayson Rodriguez in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles and signed Alek Manoah on a one-year deal.
However, these two are certainly not proven arms. Rodriguez has had a problem staying healthy, and Manoah has had a drastic fall-off since his All-Star season in 2022.

Angels listed as a potential suitor for this former All-Star pitcher
It would not hurt the Angels to consider signing another starting pitcher. There are still some solid options left that would not break the bank for the organization.
Looking past the top options like Framber Valdez and Zac Gallen, there are still names like Walker Buehler, Zack Littell, or Jose Quintana. Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly believes the Angels could be a great fit for someone like Quintana.
"His ability to eat innings would likely prove valuable with the Angels, as Grayson Rodriguez—acquired from the Orioles for the aforementioned Ward—missed the entirety of the 2025 season."
The addition of Quintana could be quite valuable for a team that has a starting rotation revolving around pitchers who have had their fair share of injuries.
While it would be nice for fans to rely on Rodriguez, that just can't be the move for a team looking to improve from last season. They need another starting pitcher who could give them some breathing room if someone goes down. And with the increase of injuries pitchers have sustained over the years, the old saying of "you can never have too many pitchers" rings true more than it ever has.
