Angel Reese has collected plenty of nicknames since becoming one of the biggest stars in women’s basketball.
Fans can now add “Playoff Barbie” to the list.
The nickname began spreading across social media after Reese helped the Atlanta Dream secure a place in the 2026 WNBA playoffs with a 99-89 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday. Reese did much more than simply participate in the clinching win. The two-time All-Star delivered one of the best performances of her professional career, finishing with a career-high 31 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and two assists.
She shot 14-of-21 from the field while recording her 25th double-double of the season.
Reese makes her playoff breakthrough
Atlanta improved to 24-13 with the victory, securing the franchise’s fourth consecutive postseason appearance and its 12th overall.
The moment carried additional significance for Reese. The former LSU star missed the playoffs during each of her first two WNBA seasons with the Chicago Sky. Chicago failed to record a winning season during that stretch before trading Reese to Atlanta in April.
Reese made it clear after Saturday’s win that she was thrilled to finally break through.
“My first playoffs, I’m so excited,” Reese said in a video shared by the Dream. “And let’s keep doing it. Let’s go!”
Fans quickly responded by introducing her latest nickname.
“Playoff Barbie,” several supporters wrote across social media throughout Sunday night.

Atlanta has bigger goals in mind
Reese isn’t treating a playoff berth as the finish line.
“It feels good to finally get here,” Reese said, according to the Dream’s official website. “I want more than the playoffs. I want to walk away a champ, and that’s why I came to Atlanta.”
That confidence appears justified.
Atlanta’s starting group of Reese, Rhyne Howard, Allisha Gray, Jordin Canada and Naz Hillmon has developed into one of the league’s most effective lineups. The Dream also rank among the WNBA’s best teams in scoring, net rating, rebounding and steals. Reese has supplied the physical presence in the middle. She currently averages 16.3 points and a league-leading 12 rebounds per game while continuing to expand her offensive game.
The career-high performance against Phoenix was the clearest sign yet that Reese can punish opponents as both a scorer and rebounder.
“Playoff Barbie” has officially arrived.
Now Reese gets the opportunity to show what she can do on the WNBA’s biggest stage.
