Angel Reese’s dominant stretch has resulted in another major honor from the WNBA. The league named the Atlanta Dream forward its Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 13 of the 2026 season. Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson received the corresponding Western Conference award.
The WNBA Communications account announced the selections on Tuesday.
Reese led Atlanta to an undefeated week while producing three consecutive double-doubles, including the most efficient scoring performance of her career and a career-high 31 points. Perhaps the most remarkable detail is that her record-breaking 26-rebound performance against the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday did not factor into the Week 13 honor.
That game occurred after the award period, meaning Reese already had done enough to earn the recognition before breaking two WNBA rebounding records.
Angel Reese powers Dream through perfect week
Reese began the award period with 21 points and 10 rebounds in Atlanta’s 97-82 victory over Wilson and the Aces on Aug. 18. The Dream forward was one of six Atlanta players to score in double figures as her team ended Las Vegas’ nine-game winning streak. She also recorded her league-leading 24th double-double of the season.

— WNBA Communications (@WNBAComms) August 25, 2026Reese followed that performance with one of the most complete games of her career. She scored 20 points on perfect 9-of-9 shooting while contributing 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals in a 124-88 victory over the Sparks.
Reese became only the third player in WNBA history to record a 20-point double-double without missing a field-goal attempt. Her two made 3-pointers also demonstrated the expanding offensive range she has worked to develop.
Atlanta established a franchise record for points while winning by 36.
Reese saved her biggest scoring performance for the final game of the week.
She produced a career-high 31 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and two assists in a 99-89 road victory over the Phoenix Mercury. Reese shot 14-of-21 from the field and helped Atlanta officially clinch a playoff berth.
Across the three victories, Reese averaged 24 points and 11.3 rebounds. The Dream defeated each opponent by at least 10 points and moved into the crowded race for home-court advantage in the first round.
Record-breaking encore came after award period
Reese somehow elevated her performance again one night after Week 13 ended. The 24-year-old collected 26 rebounds during Atlanta’s 78-71 victory over Los Angeles, breaking Chamique Holdsclaw’s WNBA single-game record of 24 from 2003.
Reese also passed Wilson’s single-season rebounding record.
Wilson established the previous mark with 451 rebounds during the 2024 season. Reese ended Monday night with 458 and still has six regular-season games remaining. She added 11 points, three assists and three steals to secure her 27th double-double.
That moved Reese within one double-double of Alyssa Thomas’ WNBA single-season record of 28, established in 2023. The performance also completed a perfect four-game West Coast road trip for Atlanta. The Dream improved to 25-13 and moved within half a game of third place in the overall standings.
Reese has averaged 20.8 points, 15 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.5 steals over her past four games.
Those numbers illustrate why the Player of the Week announcement already feels slightly outdated. Reese received the award based on three dominant games, then immediately delivered the greatest rebounding performance in league history.

Reese trade continues to transform Atlanta
Atlanta acquired Reese from the Chicago Sky during the offseason, placing her alongside Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard in a formidable core. The move has produced immediate results.
Reese is averaging 16.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals through 37 appearances. She already has set career highs as a scorer while remaining the league’s most productive rebounder.
Her development has extended beyond accumulating double-doubles. The eight-assist performance against Los Angeles showed how effectively Reese can punish double-teams by finding open teammates. Her perfect shooting night and career-high scoring game offered further evidence that her finishing is improving.
Most importantly, her production has contributed to winning.
The Dream have secured their fourth consecutive playoff appearance and remain positioned to earn a top-four seed. Finishing fourth or better would give Atlanta home-court advantage in the opening round.
Wilson’s Western Conference award provides an interesting connection to Reese’s week. Reese helped Atlanta defeat Wilson and the Aces, then surpassed Wilson’s league rebounding record six days later.
The WNBA honor officially recognized Reese’s outstanding week. Her historic encore made it clear she was not finished.
