The David Samson and Andrew McCutchen drama over the baseballs used by MLB continues.

McCutchen clapped back on Sunday night after the former Marlins president took a shot at the Pirates outfielder’s MLB source on the matter.

“My source stinks David? What a laughable thing to say when my “source” is The Commissioner of MLB (Rob Manfred),” McCutchen wrote on X. “I have 27 witnesses to back that up. So stick to ur lil channel and do this…”

What followed was a video of The Rock in WWE telliing someone to “know your role and shut your mouth.”

The Pirates star was responding to Samson going on his podcast and trashing the info McCutchen gave the world about the ball carrying less this season.

The drama began after a Mets game on June 13.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Juan Soto hit a towering drive out to right field.

The hit had an exit velocity of 110.8 MPH with a 22-degree launch angle. Many of the fans at Citi Field believed the ball was destined for the seats.

But the ball was caught by the Rays to end the inning.

After this game, X user Ben Yoel said, “You can’t convince me MLB isn’t using dead balls”.

McCutchen then dropped a bombshell in response.

“I was told by a rep for MLB that the balls are indeed different this year.” McCutchen said, “They stated ‘higher seams’ which produces more drag on baseball, causing baseballs to not travel as far as they should.”

McCutchen explained that MLB is investigating the matter, and unfortunately, no action can be taken this season.

Samson did not buy any of this.

He told his podcast audience that he believes McCutchen’s sources are terrible.

“I would like to be the one to tell Andrew McCutchen that your source stinks,” Samson confidently said. “But I can assure you in this case, whoever Andrew McCutchen is speaking to, that person doesn’t know squat about squat.”

MLB confirmed to The Athletic that there is a 4-foot reduction in home runs.

The ball is now in Samson’s court to respond to this jab by McCutchen, if he so chooses.
