The Anaheim Ducks have traded Trevor Zegras to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Ryan Poehling, a 2025 4th round pick and a 2026 4th round pick the team announced today.
Zegras is a player who has been a part in trade rumors in recent years and that has finally come to fruition. This is an opportunity for Trevor to get his career back on track after a difficult past 2 seasons that have been riddled with injuries. The 24 year old forward has registered 67 goals and 119 assists for 186 points in 268 games through 5 seasons.
This is an exciting move for Philly as the prospect of what Trevor Zegras could do on this rebuilding young squad is intriguing. When healthy Zegras has proven to be an effective offensive producer, tallying back to back 60 plus point seasons with the Ducks from 21-22 to 22-23. He could prove to be an effective linemate to play with Matvei Michkov who will be entering his sophomore season after an impressive rookie year.
Zegras will also be reunited with his former teammate in Anaheim Jamie Drysdale, who was involved in the infamous Cutter Gauthier trade. It will be interesting to see if the two players can rekindle their past chemistry and help bring the Flyers back to the promised land.
The Ducks get back another player who needed a change of scenary in Ryan Poehling. The former 2017 first rounder has recorded 43 goals and 52 assists for 95 points in 283 career games. They also bolster their draft capital with the addition of a couple mid round draft picks.
For the Ducks side, they acquire a player in Ryan Poehling who is coming off a career year with 31 points. The 26 year old should have a chance to play a greater role on this Ducks team that is looking to take a step forward in the rebuild and assert themselves as a contender.
