Anaconda (2025) is the return of a cult creature feature through a distinctly self, aware lens, blending action, comedy, and survival horror. A meta, reboot of the 1997 film, the project comes back to the franchise by making filmmaking the actual story, thus using nostalgia as narrative fuel.
Accomplished with a cast of celebrity talents led by Paul Rudd and Jack Black, it is a movie by Tom Gormican, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten. It hit the big screen in LA on December 25, 2025 and will be released in theaters later that same month.

What is Anaconda (2025) about?
Anaconda (2025) is about the four ex-friends of the past who decide to film a cheap remake of the original Anaconda movie in the Amazon jungle. Their journey to relive the good old days turns out differently when they meet a real, huge anaconda, and their low-budget project becomes a survival story.
The concept helps Anaconda (2025) to be doubly effective; on the one hand, it is a horror movie; on the other hand, a commentary on human memory, dreams of fame and anguish of the creatively starved. The film's excitement grows as the group's shoddy filmmaking skills put them in genuine danger, thus each character must grapple with the result of underestimating nature.
