American Ninja Warrior fans love to see athletes evolving and pushing themselves through budding careers. Take Ninja Nacssa Garemore, for example. After years of training, Nacssa was introduced to ANW audiences on American Ninja Warrior Jr. where he competed for two seasons alongside his brother and fellow ninja Robert Garemore. He moved on to the main show in Season 15 and—as a rookie— made it to Stage Four of the finals. He timed out at around 70 feet on Mount Midoriyama. In Season 16, Nacssa once again reached Stage Four of the finals, but once again timed out. In these two seasons, Nacssa never hit the water or lost a head-to-head race. He also hit 10 buzzers. Talk about impressive!
So, the question is how Nacssa Garemore will fare in Season 17, and we are about to find out with this exclusive clip of Nacssa’s first run at this season’s course. The clip begins with Nacssa taking the Quad Steps like a champ, quickly hopping across the platforms without a pause. “That was a little risky,” says host Akbar Gbajabiamila from the host tower. “Well, he goes fast, but obviously has never fallen,” replies host Matt Iseman. “He knows what he’s doing.”
Next, Nacssa expertly handles the Log Grip, clutching tightly to the vertical log and jumping off at the optimal release point. “He’s very powerful,” observes Akbar as Nacssa races across the balance obstacle Block Run without hesitation. Nacssa swiftly moves on to Spin Cycle and laches between the three spinning metal hoops. He barely pauses as he shimmies across the steel pipe of Battering Ram, nearing the final obstacle: the Warped Wall. “With this pace, he’ll likely earn a shot at the Mega Wall,” observes Matt from the host tower.
Nacssa hops down from the platform and quickly runs up the Warped Wall (14.5 feet tall) to hit the buzzer. Because he finished the course in under a minute, Nacssa can have a go at running up the 18.5 foot Mega Wall for his chance to win some cash. As Nacssa celebrates with a dance, Matt reminds him of the task at hand. “Nacssa, you’re not done! You got the fastest time of the night at under a minute, so you get to take a run at the Mega Wall for $10K.”
As Nacssa prepares for his attempt, Matt sets the stage. “The Mega Wall challenge is seemingly been impossible this year. 12 ninjas have tried it. None have conquered the 18.5-foot wall.” Akbar chimes in. “He’s gonna need a lot of power, a lot of speed to generate himself up this massive Mega Wall.” Nacssa begins his run and easily moves up the wall and makes it to the top! As he celebrates, Akbar, Matt and the crowd go wild!
