On Thursday, January 1, BIGHIT MUSIC reported through the South Korean media outlet AtStar1 that BTS's long-awaited group comeback, expected to be released in Spring 2026, is scheduled for March 20. They further explained that they had reportedly revealed the comeback date through the physical letters sent to ARMYs with the golden Weverse membership.

Previously, BIGHIT MUSIC announced that ARMYs who hold a gold fanclub membership on Weverse will be receiving a letter containing messages from all the members. The letter was reported to be a token of gratitude towards the fans who waited and supported the group for over three years during their mandatory military enlistment. Recently, the agency explained that the comeback date, March 20, was printed in the center of the letter with a mysterious logo.

Here's what they stated through the report released by AtStar1:

"We have confirmed that they will make a comeback on March 20. This marks approximately 3 years and 9 months since they last released a full-group album, which was the anthology album Proof in June 2022."

However, many fans found the announcement to be anticlimactic and unfair. Given that several fans have been eagerly waiting for the comeback announcement for a long period of time, many conveyed that the way of announcement was quite minimal. They also explained how the comeback date was not officially announced through a statement release or official posts on their social media accounts, thereby further degrading the excitement around the comeback date reveal.

More people also pointed out that announcing the comeback date through the letters to ARMYs was a boring technique since the reveal only reached some ARMYs, and it also showcased a lack of linearity, with all fans recieving the date reveal at the same time. They also called out the reveal through a media outlet, when many expected a grander reveal. Here are a few fan reactions regarding the same:

"The way it's just articles and they dont even announce it on bts official acc... always doing the bare minimum for bts but doing the most with their other new groups" said a fan

More fans and netizens also expressed their reactions to the announcement of BTS's long-awaited comeback through news articles and letters to ARMYs.

BigHit's marketing team is honestly so bad and boring at this… like this is their biggest artist, the most anticipated comeback, and this is how they choose to announce it?

So this is how bh decided to announce cb date.. should i be worried further?

I’m sorry there needs to be a way bigger announcement then letters to fans on Weverse 😭 This a*s company

I have never experienced bts comeback yet. But this seems like you are doing it just for the army fandom. Instead of an announcement with fireworks, champagne and confetti, as a royal beginning for the general public worldwide, you've chosen one sentence in Korean Naver if so.

Others also shared their thoughts and opinions regarding the same.

they’re NOT serious…announcing the cb date like this i have no word just wasting hype

not a single other company would roll out their biggest artists come back date after almost 4 years of no group activity like this ts so stupid I have no words actually 😭

okay???? make the announcement BIGGER, it’s been THREE YEARS! omg you guys need a new marketing team now

Wait, what?😅 This is how you announce the biggest comeback of all times? Or did I miss other posts? LOL Even my friend announcements on his FB page (with 35 followers) about a new product in his small boutique are more creative and more thoughtful than this.

All we know so far about BTS's 2026 group comeback: Main producers, performance tracks, and more

In July 2025, the BTS members announced that their first group comeback in three years is expected to be released in Spring 2026, followed by a world tour. In the further solo livestreams and other individual updates from the members, a few other details about the upcoming album were announced. RM revealed that the main producers of the album will be Max Martin and Jon Bellion.

The idol also shared that BTS will be diving into genres they've not explored before, with the majority of the tracks belonging to hip-hop, rap, and pop genres. Furthermore, the rough theme of the album is expected to revolve around the keywords "running" and "kingdom". Jungkook, on the other hand, explained that there will be no set title track for the album, but one track particularly stands out from the album, and can be considered as a title track.

He also revealed that the album consists of three to four performance tracks, and they are currently practicing the choreographies for the same. With the recent announcement that the comeback is slated for release on March 20, fans and netizens have been eagerly looking forward to and preparing for the same.
