The New York Yankees are in second place in the American League East, but with the weak AL behind them, they have a real chance to go on a deep run this postseason.
But there are clear issues that need to be addressed to get there. It's not just the fans or media that see it this way; Yankees' legend Alex Rodriguez does as well.
During an appearance on WFAN Sports Radio, Rodriguez called out Brian Cashman and the Yankees to go all-in at the MLB trade deadline for one reason: to not waste Aaron Judge's prime.
Alex Rodriguez calls out Brian Cashman to go all-in at trade deadline to make most of Aaron Judge
"That window's closing," Rodriguez said. "And it puts tremendous pressure on Brian Cashman, the ownership, the fanbase. And what an absolute tragedy it would be to have one of the greatest players of our generation only go to one World Series and not win."
Rodriguez continued: "If you're the Yankees, it's a very simple formula. This is the weakest the American League has been in our lifetime. You have a scenario where you could play the White Sox and the Rays and go to the World Series. So if you're management, if you have an opportunity to go all-in, you gotta put all your chips in now."

— WFAN Sports Radio (@WFAN660) July 17, 2026With the American League wide-open for the taking, Rodriguez believes there's no better time than right now to go all-in at the trade deadline.
Spend a fortune to acquire Mason Miller from the San Diego Padres, inquire about Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers, or make a splash at catcher for Hunter Goodman.
Rodriguez didn't specify any one move he wants Cashman and company to make, but he does want the Yankees to go big at this year's deadline.
Who can blame Rodriguez? This Yankees team has what it takes to win the World Series, and with the wide-open AL and seemingly easy path to the World Series, now is the time to push for an aggressive deadline.

Spencer Jones, Jasson Dominguez, Carlos Lagrange, and even George Lombard Jr., along with any other top prospect, should be readily available to try to capitalize on the 2026 season.
Even though Judge is hurt and won't be back for a little while, if the Yankees get help at the deadline, they could still hang around the Rays atop the AL East and make a mid-to-late August push for the division title and a first-round bye.
Rodriguez is calling out the Yankees and Cashman, and the former World Series champion is right. This is the season for the Yankees to go all-in.
The trade market might not be as robust as other seasons, but there are still plenty of players who would be worth adding in a trade this summer.
They have a few weeks to make their decision about how aggressive they're going to be for the August 3 trade deadline. Rodriguez is hoping they're aggressive for Judge's sake, and Yankees' fans should agree about an all-in approach this summer.
