Al Wahda visit the Thani bin Jassim Stadium in Ar-Rayyan on Monday to face a struggling Al-Gharafa on matchday six of the AFC Champions League. With 13 points in five games, the Maroons are in second place in Group B standings in the competition, trailing only Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal (15 points).
They are currently on a three-game winning run in the Champions League, beating Al-Duhail 3-1, Nasaf 2-1 and Al Sadd 3-1 in succession following a 0-0 stalemate with Tractor on matchday two.
Following such a barnstorming run, Al Wahda have cantered into the knockout stages and booked their place in the round of 16 already. Now, it's a race between them and their Saudi rivals to finish the league phase in first position.
Al Gharafa have seen a starkly different fate in the Champions League. The Qatari side have won just once in five games so far, a 2-0 victory over Al-Shorta on matchday two.
Since then, it's been a horror show for them, with Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and Shabab Al-Ahli all inflicting a series of defeats upon them that has left the Cheetahs down in ninth position with only three points in two games.
As only two more fixtures remain in the league phase of the Champions League campaign, Al Gharafa are on the edge and must win both their remaining games to stand a chance of progressing into the knockout stages.
