AJ Styles' retirement is set to be another emotional night for the WWE Universe all around the world. After John Cena left his boots in the ring at Saturday Night's Main Event, fans are getting ready to witness the Phenomenal One's final match and the moment he leaves his boots in the squared circle.
AJ Styles had already announced that he would retire from professional wrestling in 2026. Addressing the Phenomenal One's plans to retire, his former OC brothers, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, stated that the veteran would not retire if they were not involved in the mix.
During a recent appearance on Talk'n Shop, Anderson stated that it was impossible to have AJ Styles' retirement match with the Good Brothers having zero involvement in it.
“We never say never about anything, and not even using the ‘never say never’ but we’re open for any talk, ever… I would be blown away — I would hope they clip this — I’d be blown away if AJ Styles goes to his final match — one, two, three — or his final appearance, and he leaves and he takes his boots off. He leaves them in the middle of the ring. He tells the fans worldwide on a platform to the world that he’s leaving professional wrestling, and that’s it and he walks out, goodbye, and there’s zero Good Brother involvement. I’m just saying, I feel like that would be very impossible… If that happens inside that WWE ring, I would say that AJ Styles is not finished,” he stated.Further, adding up to his brother's comments, Luke Gallows added AJ Styles would be lying about his retirement if the Good Brothers were not involved in the final moments of his professional wrestling career.
“Well, that was my point… If they say AJ Styles is retired and there’s no Good Brother involvement, then he’s lying about retiring,” Gallows added.Who will AJ Styles face in his final WWE match?
While things haven't been made official yet, WWE has seemingly confirmed that the Phenomenal One will take on the Ring General Gunther in his retirement match. Both men have had multiple backstage interactions now, and considering the Ring General's character, retiring another legend would suit him perfectly. Time will now tell what WWE has in plans for the veteran next.
