The Houston Texans will be signing running back Nick Chubb on Monday pending a physical, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
Browns GM Andrew Berry revealed his hand on Chubb earlier this offseason.
"(I) wouldn't rule anything out, but I would say that it's probably increasingly unlikely," Berry said during an appearance on 92.3 The Fan. "We do have two young guys that we liked. We think Jerome (Ford) plays a role. It's basically kind of maybe seeing how the roles shake out in the running back room.
"You're never going to rule out someone as near and dear to our heart as Nick, and I would expect him to take another step being a year removed from the knee injury. But I'd say a return is less likely, at least in the short term, with us right now."
The Browns also drafted Quinshon Judkins, who was the final piece that shaped Chubb's future, or lack thereof, with Cleveland.
For the Texans, this gives them a very scary stable of running backs to work with that includes Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce.
This three-headed monster might just push the needle on the narrative that the Texans are joining the Philadelphia Eagles, in bringing back smash mouth football.
Either way, there was enough in the eight games he played for the Browns last year to believe he can still carry a load, just not all of the load.
Chubb will get that chance in Houston with other notable running backs there to help him.
