An AEW star officially hung up her boots after contributing 20 years of her life to the pro wrestling industry. Madison Rayne has been one of the top veterans of the Jacksonville-based promotion. She made a name for herself in TNA. After wrestling in the company for the majority of her career, she decided to help young careers and, therefore, became All Elite as a coach in 2022.

After spending some time backstage, the 39-year-old star even wrestled in the squared circle. She hasn't been seen on AEW TV for almost two years. She lost to Deonna Purrazzo in February 2024 but still wrestled on ROH. She wrestled her last match on ROH alongside the Virtuosa at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The duo lost to Billie Starkz and Diamante.

On tonight's ROH taping, ahead of her final match, Madison Rayne announced her exit from the pro wrestling industry. She and her tag team partner broke into tears backstage.

AEW President Tony Khan was hopeful about Madison Rayne's in-ring return earlier, after she had retired

Madison Rayne announced her retirement a few years ago when she left TNA. However, after she joined All Elite Wrestling as a coach, many fans wanted to see her return to the ring.

When asked about her possibility of stepping back in the ring on Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan said that he considered bringing back the 39-year-old star to wrestle, which he later did.

“I’m not saying she wouldn’t wrestle anymore,” Khan said, noting that he’s ‘open to it.’ “We have people in the office who wrestle as part of their schedule,” Khan said, with management figures such as QT Marshall, Sonjay Dutt, and Christopher Daniels still involved in matches and angles, “I’m primarily focused on the whole company,” Khan said of the latest delegations in duty. “But [Madison Rayne wrestling is] definitely something I’m really open to."

It will be interesting to see what is next for the retired AEW star.
