AEW quietly retires major title; removes it from roster page

AEW has just officially removed a major championship belt from its roster page, confirming that this is no longer an active title. This comes following events that transpired last night at Worlds End.

The Unified Championship was created as a prize for the individual who holds both the International and Continental titles. After Kazuchika Okada won both belts at All In: Texas, these were combined into one, continuing both lineages. However, with the emergence of this year's Continental Classic, this was split up, as the Continental title was on the line in the tournament.

Jon Moxley ended up winning the whole thing and becoming the new champion. Since Okada no longer had both belts, he could no longer be the Unified Champion. This belt is now inactive and has been removed from the AEW roster page.

This will now only become active if an individual captures both titles and holds them simultaneously.

What titles switched hands after AEW Worlds End?

Worlds End was a blockbuster pay-per-view to end the year. The show featured multiple title matches, and there were several title changes to close out the year.

The men's and women's world titles, the Continental Championship, and both the men's and women's world tag team titles were on the line during the show. But in the end, only two championship belts changed hands.

Apart from Jon Moxley becoming the new Continental Champion, MJF defied the odds and won the four-way match to become a 2-time AEW World Champion. He was able to take advantage of the chaos and steal the win by pinning Samoa Joe. This was a major title change to end 2025.

The company's next pay-per-view will be Revolution in March, so for the meantime at least, it will be interesting to see what the fallout of Worlds End will look like, and what new major storylines and feuds could take place in 2026.
