A former AEW champion was attacked on tonight's New Year's Day edition of Dynamite. The recent show featured multiple title matches. One of them was AEW National Champion vs. the Jurrassic Express' Jack Perry. Before the contest even started, fans noticed that Luchasaurus, who was there to support his tag team partner, wore a sling. He even wore it at Worlds End, where he barely wrestled. A few hours ago, reports revealed that he had injured his shoulder.

This isn't the first time the former TNT Champion had to take a hiatus. In 2024, he had to sit on shelves as he battled a deadly disease. He fully recovered from the condition in August 2025. Fans are wondering how many months he will be out this time.

On tonight's Dynamite, after Ricochet had defeated Jack Perry, the Demand ambushed Luchasarurus and inflicted more damage to his injured arm.

AEW star Jack Perry reveals the severity of Luchasaurus' condition

In August 2024, Luchasaurus collapsed and was immediately hospitalised, as he suffered from double pneumonia and severe lung damage.

While speaking recently on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Jack Perry stated that he could have been dead if his condition worsened any further.

"At some point, I think he wants to tell everyone all about it. But it's like I think I don't know, I didn't know pneumonia was like a current thing... And they took him to the hospital, and I don't remember the percentages, but they said like 'You're within like 10% of like if you get below this, you probably would've died'. And I was just like holy s**t like, you could've been dead," he said.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Jack Perry now that his tag team partner is out of action.
