Welcome along to the latest rendition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's AEW News & Rumor Roundup. Today, we are looking at top news involving All Elite Wrestling stars like Mercedes Mone, among others.

An emerging female star is scheduled to undergo major surgery for her torn ACL. Meanwhile, a former two-time WWE champion made her AEW debut on Collision, and Mercedes Mone was surprised to receive a rather unconventional message about her work. All this and more as we delve into the best stories coming out of All Elite Wrestling today. That said, let's get started with this roundup.

#4. Toni Storm tells Mercedes Mone, she will wax her ar*e

Mercedes Mone found herself at the center of a heated verbal exchange during Collision: Winter is Coming last night. The ending left her somewhat perplexed. On the night, newly crowned AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron (Babes of Wrath) were celebrating their historic victory over the Timeless Lovebombs (Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa), who had also made their presence felt during the segment. The segment was then interrupted by the CEO.

The erstwhile Sasha Banks, while dissing the champions, expressed her interest in the Women’s World Tag Team Championships before proposing an eight-woman tag team match. Toni Storm responded on behalf of the women in the ring by accepting the challenge. During her reply, Storm delivered a graphic and NSFW remark aimed directly at Mone, stating:

“Challenge accepted, slop tart! We will raise a glass, and we will wax your ar*e.”

AEW has confirmed that the eight-woman tag team match will happen at Holiday Bash, with the CEO teaming up with Athena, Marina Shafir, and Megan Bayne against Toni Storm, Mina Shirakawa, Willow Nightingale, and Harley Cameron.

#3. Leila Gray set for surgery after suffering torn ACL

Leila Grey has announced that she will be undergoing surgery after suffering a torn ACL. Grey shared the news on Instagram, stating that the injury occurred during her recent match against Mercedes Moné for the AEW TBS Championship on Collision. Despite the injury, Grey completed the match but was unsuccessful in capturing the title.

Grey’s announcement confirmed that she will be out of action for an extended period while recovering from the surgery. She also highlighted a recent personal achievement, noting that she had just won the WBFF Pro Fitness Diva title.

"I just won, went Pro, and become the new WBFF Pro Fitness Diva!!….. with a freakin’ torn ACL! For those that may not know, I tore my ACL last week in my match with Mercedes. I’ll be going into surgery and will be out of commission for a while." Grey wrote

#2. Michael Cole mentions Taz at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event

During the Saturday Night’s Main Event broadcast, WWE commentator Michael Cole referenced multiple figures currently associated with AEW. While discussing John Cena’s career ahead of his final match against Gunther, Cole gave a shoutout to Taz for calling Cena’s first televised match in 2002. Taz, who joined Tony Khan's promotion as a commentator in 2020, had spent many years with WWE as both an in-ring competitor and a commentator. Cole highlighted Taz’s role in Cena’s early career during his original WWE run.

"I would like a shoutout to Taz. The man who sat here and called the first night that Kurt Angle faced John Cena in WWE," Cole said.

Cole also namedropped Jim Ross during the countdown to the event. He recalled Ross, alongside other veteran announcers such as JBL and Jerry “The King” Lawler, as voices who called major matches throughout Cena’s career.

#1. Isla Dawn debuts on an AEW Dark show

Isla Dawn made her debut on an All Elite Wrestling-branded show this week. Dawn appeared on AEW Dark: Stocking Stuffer, which was taped in Cardiff, Wales. As a native of the United Kingdom, Dawn received a strong reaction from the live audience during her appearance. The Modern-Day Witch was released from WWE in February and later joined Tony Khan’s promotion. She previously held both the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship during her time with the company.

Although this marked her first appearance on AEW Dark, it was not her first AEW-related outing. Earlier this year, Dawn made her AEW Collision debut in her hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, where she faced Megan Bayne.
