A freak accident was narrowly avoided during Friday night's college baseball matchup between the University of San Diego and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Hall of Famer and former Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre's son, Adrian Beltre Jr., is an infielder and pitcher for San Diego. The younger Beltre went 3-for-4 with two walks in the victory against Charlotte.

When Beltre Jr. drew his second walk, he accidentally flipped his bat backwards towards the home plate umpire, nearly hitting his head.
